Soil CO₂ Gas Monitoring by CGEM

CanSyd Australia has developed for the geological storage industry CO₂ soil flux monitoring stations co-registering atmospheric CO₂ and meteorological conditions. The independent, self powered, remote stations are called CGEMs (Carbon Gas Environmental Monitors), specifically developed to acquire continuous CO₂ gas concentration measurements at any geographical location, for all long-term data collection requirements.

The soil gas CO₂ measurements are taken at 5 minute intervals, 24/7, for multiple years and have shown a precision of 1.2ppm and an accuracy of less than 5ppm.

Each CGEM is a stand alone, self powered installation with back-to-office data transfer, data archiving and daily reporting. The CGEM station is designed and suitable for very remote geological storage field locations.
